Ahau de Copan
Wearing his splendid feathered headdress this proud Ahau de Copan (Lord of Copan) is dressed for a sacred ceremony, perhaps a bloodletting ritual to celebrate the accession of an heir to the throne or the completion of a new temple. His headdress and costume, which incorporates jade and quetzal feathers is a fairly accurate rendition of a Maya elite from around 700AD.

Conversations in Mayan
A Maya lord carved in jade is in deep conversation with a court dwarf. It was believed by the ancient Maya that dwarfs resided halfway between this and the Other World of ancestors and gods, and were therefore favored by the Shaman Kings whose role was to enter the 'Other World' to maintain order in this one.
